A new generation of electric traction motors:
The Synchronous reluctance motor

The synchronous reluctance motor (SYR) is a new generation of electric traction motors that has gained popularity in recent years due to its improved efficiency, reliability, and low cost compared to traditional motors. Unlike traditional motors that rely on the interaction between a rotor and stator to generate torque, SYRs rely on the difference in magnetic reluctance between the rotor and stator to generate torque. This makes them well-suited for use in electric vehicles and other traction applications, as they offer high efficiency, low noise, and a wide operating speed range. Additionally, the simple and robust design of SYRs makes them less complex and easier to manufacture than other types of motors, which helps to reduce costs.

We are currently involved in multiple SYR designs and the test results speak for themselves.  The SYR can operate at efficiencies in excess of 97% and our largest design can achieve in excess of 4,000 Nm of torque
